Hailing out of San Gabriel, CA, here is The Story Tellers with their original “You Played Me A Fool” written by the groups lead Nick Delgado in 1959. The group was originally called the Pretenders but would later change its name to The Story Tellers when Norty Beckmans suggested they change their name. I found out that in September, Mr. Delgado had unfortunately passed away, he left behind a true gem that I hope y’all can enjoy as much as I do! 2nd slide features the group performing the song live in 1989 in Covina & 3rd slide is a picture of the group form the 90s. It’s been quite some time since I last posted a record so here’s a rarity for you. Coming out of San Angelo, Texas, Sammy Lara & The Skytones present you their teener sound with “Mister Moon” 🌙 (ca. 1958) I don’t believe this was the same Skytones as the one from San Antonio that had the singles “She’s Gone” & “Pretend” but I could be wrong… Available for listening on my YouTube!!
