about

What began nearly a decade ago as an archival effort of digitizing my personal record collection of primarily 45s of rare Chicano Soul, Texas Soul, Lowrider Oldies, Barrio Ballads, Swamp Pop, Rancheras, Doo Wop, Boleros, Cumbia & much much more has slowly evolved into sharing this music beyond the internet.

Santos Sounds

The name Santos comes from my bis-abuelo (Great Grandpa), who I never met but would hear stories about growing up. I realized that the best way that I felt I could represent myself and represent my people was by using his name.

Based out of Houston, Texas, Santos Sounds came to be all by chance. I began uploading on YouTube so that I could share a lot of the records I had primarily because I could not find them online to listen to. I never thought I would begin Djing but one day while I was in San Antonio I was put on the spot by a friend as he pushed me to drop a set for the very first time.

That same night I got invited to another gig and did a 2nd set which made me realized that this was a much more powerful way of sharing music. I then started thinking of a name that would represent me, and eventually landed on Santos Sounds

Santos brother, Leonardo. Who I use as my center image for my 45 scans!

Throughout this wonderful journey I’ve met some amazing people, played at some incredible venues and archived many, many records. Santos Sounds at its core has always and will always be about the music, the mission will always be about sharing Puro Sonido Del Barrio Y Del Corazon. I appreciate all the support thus far and will continue to give the best that I can to share history in various formats, from online posts, in person events and some projects that I’m currently working on so stay tuned!
